Contrary to popular belief, this post will not be about the Fray nor will it be happy and full of sugar, spice, and everything nice. The powerpuff girls is one f***ed up cartoon, portraying innocence into teenagerdom and sweetness from everyone you meet just because you are pink, blue or green. YES YES I KNOW. Well, honestly, if you don't want your kid reading this, why are they here? -.-
The Fray - You Found Me
Where were you, where were you?
Just a little late,
You found me, you found me,
Lying on the floor.
Why'd you have to wait
To find me, to find me?
The Fray - Say When
You still haven't spoken,
What happened?
You wanna cry,
But nothing's coming...
What is with people these days? Are we honestly so self-absorbed we don't notice when our friends or family are in pain? I'd like to think I'm always consciously aware of my friends' pain, but I know I'm no saint - God, I'm definitely no saint...
But you don't realise how well off you are until something happens to someone else and you think
'holy shit, that could have been my mum. It could've been my dad' and that's when you stop and think 'what the hell am I doing?'.
I always used to wish we'd move.
Now I want nothing more than to stay in this house. Like The Fray says - you can never say never until you don't know it.
But I just don't understand. We repeatedly stab other people in the back knowing it'll come back to bite us in the ass and yet, we do it to get that small moment of 'oh my God, I'm changing someone's life here'.
Maybe we should stop and think - are we changing that person's life for the better or worse?
I complain about a lot of things - homework, teachers, petty little things that seem so trivial to some people they laugh. And I don't blame them. I hate standing on the sidelines and watching my friends suffer through what some of them do... and they don't tell anyone. They just plough ahead and somehow, they still smile.
I once read in a poem "you don't know me, so I'm not here".
So true in some ways. So unreal in others.
So from now on, I'm going to be a good person, not take anything for granted, and live to make the world a better place. I want to help people in trouble. I want to save lives. I want to save relationships. I want to save people's children. I want to make people happy.
If only I could do it all at once.
But I can't.
So right now, I'll focus on my friends who really need help, who need a shoulder to cry on whether they hate to admit it or not, and generally try to help.
Because seriously? If all I have to suffer through is taking a test every Tuesday, getting homework every Friday and being loved by the best parents in the world, then I've got it pretty good. Really good.
Rushing past a window,
Like he's watching his own soul.
Sixty years of sorrow,
Brought five or six of bliss,
Left my mother's mother,
Without so much as a kiss.
